What a beautiful day for the pumpkin patch! The kindergartners had a blast!

Warning! Excessive consumption of energy drinks can have a negative impact on your brain and heart. We tasked 2 of our high school students to research what our student body consumes the most. The results were shocking!

Congratulations to Lexi Arbogast and Kallen Faimon on being selected for the Sing Around Nebraska honor choir! This year there will be a single choir representing the whole state, consisting of 160 singers in grades 4-6. This event will take place on Saturday, November 9 at Kearney High School.

These students experienced first-hand some of what we have been learning in Intro to Business. They discovered how productivity can be increased with specialization of labor, division of labor, the use of tools or equipment, and better management techniques and organization. Two groups were given Play-Doh with the task of producing as many hamburgers as they could on their own in 7 minutes. The buns had to be 2 inches in diameter, meat 1 ½ inch, and there had to be 3 dabs of ketchup and mustard, 2 pickles and 16 sesame seeds on each bun. If they didn’t meet these specifications, the hamburgers didn’t count. They were not very successful as none counted. Then they split up the duties and used division of labor. Better, but not many still counted.
The next day they got to use tools they brought that would help. They quickly wished they had put more thought into and communicated better on what tools they should bring, because the tools that they just quickly came up with before class made them a little more productive, but not much. After discussion, they came up with some different ideas and improved productivity a little more. You can’t beat playing with Play-Do while learning!!
