Freshman and some juniors will be going on a college visit to UNL on Thursday, April 24th. We will leave at 7:30 am and return around 3 pm. We will be eating lunch on campus. If you have any questions please contact, Mrs. Porter.
PreK learned about caterpillars and how they turn into Butterflies this morning, we will get to watch our caterpillars turn into Butterflies, thank you Nuckolls county extension office for this experience!!!!!
The Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) are coordinating to provide $120 in grocery purchasing cards to households of children who receive Free or Reduced-price meals at schools that participate in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs. These cards should be used during summer break when school is not in session. If your student receives Free or Reduced-price meals in SY2024-25 and eats breakfast and/or lunch at school, you do not need to take any action to receive SEBT.
Students at Lawrence-Nelson that are directly certified for Free or Reduced meals through SNAP and Medicaid will have cards issued on April 23rd and should receive those about five days later.
Students at Lawrence-Nelson that are approved for Free or Reduced through other methods within the school will have cards issued on May 15th and should receive those about five days later.
If your student does not currently qualify for Free or Reduced-price meals but your household situation and income changes during summer break and you believe your child becomes eligible, please complete the SEBT application available from the NDE website.

If you have questions about the status of your card, need support for activating your card, or need to update your mailing address, please contact Nebraska DHHS at 800- 383-4278 or DHHS.SEBT@nebraska.gov. Be prepared to provide your first and last name, first and last name of qualifying students, date of birth of qualifying student, and mailing address.

The National Honor Society hosted the annual Easter Egg Hunt in Nelson last Saturday. Many children attended and had a good time finding all the eggs!! The Golden Ticket winners in the various age groups were :

The Annual 1st Grade Egg Drop! Mrs. Janda dropped all of the protected eggs to the ground from the fire escape. All of them survived this year! The 1st graders came up with some very creative ideas to protect their eggs from cracking! Happy Easter Break! 🌼☀️

More Career Day fun!
The Elementary had Career Day this afternoon! Our presenters were Cheryl Christensen - Petal Patch Greenhouse, Nathan Mueller - Superior Paint & Body, Colby Jensen - Hastings Firefighter, Luke Meyers - Meyers Aerial, Lisa Williams - Y102 Radio DJ, and Colby Fox - Physical Therapist. The students had so much fun learning about the different careers! Thank you to our presenters and to Michelle Janda for putting this together!
