All five Lawrence-Nelson FFA members who interviewed at the District 6
State Degree Interviews Feb. 4 at CCC have been approved to earn
their State FFA Degrees. Natalie Jacobitz, Owen Smiley, Nathan Pofahl,
Nathan Stokes, and Kole Thompson have earned the State FFA Degree,
which is the highest degree the Nebraska State FFA Association can
bestow upon a member. Each year members are awarded the degree based
upon their comprehensive Supervised Agricultural Experience Program.
FFA members must submit two years of SAE record books, complete the
State FFA Degree application and meet all minimum qualifications as
well as pass an interview assessment in order to be awarded the State
FFA Degree.

Yesterday was also the District 6 Proficiency Award judging.
Proficiency Awards recognize the development of technical knowledge
and skills that students develop through their Supervised Agricultural
Experience programs. LN FFA had three district champions and four
state qualifiers.
Natalie Jacobitz - Wildlife Production and Management - First gold
Nathan Pofahl - Ag Mechanics Design and Fabrication - First gold
Nathan Stokes - Beef Production Placement - First gold
Owen Smiley - Sheep Production Entrepreneurship - Third gold
Kole Thompson - Agricultural Services - Silver

The state qualifying applications will be judged in Kearney on Sat.
February 21. The top three applications from each category after the
Kearney judging will move on to competition at the State FFA
Convention March 25-27.

The Lawrence-Nelson Beef @ School committee is holding its annual fundraiser. You can purchase raffle tickets to win a gun until February 12th. We are also selling squares for a chance to win a beef bundle with a Drip EZ pan. Squares will be sold through the L/N vs Superior basketball games on Friday, February 13th. Last year the beef 2 school committee provided the schools with 7 head of beef in order for students to enjoy locally raised, farm fresh beef twice a week.
